Sports betting rules
How your bets at Winterbet are graded and settled. Where a sport has its own rule, it is listed under that sport, and it takes precedence over the general rules.
General
- Your bet is accepted at the price on your ticket.
- A bet is settled once two independent official results agree. If they disagree, or only one has reported, it is checked by hand before it is settled.
- Push: the result lands exactly on your line. Your stake is returned.
- Void: the event does not take place, or is not completed where a rule below says so. Your stake is returned.
- You bet and are paid in ETH. Dollar amounts are shown at the current ETH price.
- Live scores on Winterbet are for information only. Bets are settled from official results.
Markets
- Moneyline / winner: the winner of the game, including overtime and extra innings. A game that ends tied is a push.
- Spread / handicap: the final margin with the line applied, including overtime. On a whole-number line, a margin exactly on the line is a push.
- Total: the combined final score, including overtime. Exactly on a whole-number line is a push.
Combos
- A combo is one bet on two to twelve lines. It wins only if every line wins, and pays at the prices of the lines multiplied together.
- Two lines from the same game cannot be in one combo.
- A line that is void or a push drops out: the combo is settled on the other lines' prices. If every line is void or a push, your stake is returned.
- A combo is lost as soon as one of its lines loses, whatever is still to play.
- A combo pays at most 1000 to 1, and one combo can win at most 5 ETH. Smaller limits apply when a line is in play.
- If any line is in play, the whole combo is held as an in-play bet is, and every line's price is checked again before it is accepted. If one has moved, we show you the new prices and ask again.
In-play betting
- In-play bets are held for a few seconds before they are accepted (10 seconds; 8 for tennis). If the price has moved against you in that time by more than a small margin, we show you the new price and ask again.
- Markets are suspended around significant moments. A bet on a suspended market is not accepted.
- A bet accepted after its result is already known, including after the event has ended, is void and your stake is returned. This applies even if the market was shown as open in error.
- In-play stakes are limited to less than pre-game stakes.
NFL and NBA
- Overtime counts for every market.
- An NFL game that ends tied: the moneyline is a push, and spreads and totals are graded as normal.
MLB
- Extra innings count for every market.
- Bets stand whoever pitches.
- A postponed game: if it is replayed within 48 hours, your bet stands on the replay. If not, it is void.
- A game called early but declared official is settled on its official result.
- Each game of a doubleheader is a separate event.
NHL
- Overtime and the shootout count for the moneyline and the puck line.
- The shootout winner is credited one goal. That goal counts for the moneyline and the puck line, but not for the total: a 3-2 shootout win is graded as four goals for totals.
Tennis
- If a player retires, is defaulted, or the match is a walkover, every bet on the match is void and your stake is returned, whatever the score at the time.
- Set handicap is graded on sets won; total games on all games played in the match, with a tiebreak counting as one game.
UFC
- Bets are on the winner of the fight, by any method.
- A draw or no contest is a push: your stake is returned.
- A fight that does not take place on the card it was listed for — cancelled, moved to another card, or an opponent replaced — is void.
